My final Blog from Taiwan

After posting my penultimate blog I felt a wee bit sad. It is complicated for me because my two sons live in different parts of the world. When I am with one I miss the other; I realise many folk would say I am lucky to spend so much time with my grown up sons and I am .I am truly grateful for them and for my three step children their partners and my eight grandchildren I have much to be grateful for .I know I am blessed  I am looking forward so much to seeing Andrew and Lucy soon , then, J&E P&S and the six grandchildren in UK,

AND, I am going to miss seeing so much of Philip and Teresa.

I always adapt quickly after the final goodbyes; often is is the build up to it that throws me in to sadness a sense of loss. It is a mini grief.

Andrew and Lucy have organised a long weekend in Scotland for us soon after I get home and I will see many of my family there including my new grand niece.

I have booked to go to Castalla in late September till mid October and that is a real treat.

I will organise a trip to London and Cambridge before Christmas to see Penny and Johnny and their families.  I am a very lucky almost 77 year old woman.

When I was at the flower market I got some bites ( the insects always find me)  I have a bite on my eyelid and think to be sure I will go to a local clinic . also my hip and leg have been getting progressively more painful perhaps because I have been walking much more while I am here.

I have just had my first experience of going to the doctor here in Taipei. Philip told me what to expect which was a big help. There are four shop fronts in a row, One to see a GP one for X rays, one for some specialists, and one is the chemist.

I went to the reception and she quickly asked me for my passport which I had not taken.Once I had that and filled in a health check form. I was in ,ticket 13, they were at 10. There is a BP machine in reception which everyone puts their arm into when they arrive and a ticket comes out with you BP. You take that into the GP.

I was very surprised the see my BP was a bit high. Apart form when I was pregnant my BP has always been normal. The doctor said the pain the heat and being in a new country could be responsible for that.

She quickly assessed my eye was ok, not damage but needed some cream .

Then she diagnosed Sciatica , horrible .I had a much worse version of in in Castalla a few years ago

She has prescribed three days meds for that. 460 TWD  for both meds.

I have to stop my long walks and rest a bit but I can swim it is more gentle. The local school pool is available after 4.00 and it has a sauna a steam room and a jacuzzi . I will be using that from now on; it only costs 100 TWD (£2)

My number 13/ my BP result

My three days meds.

I took the meds yesterday and last night I slept much better ( thank goodness ) I still have aches but the sharp pain is gone.

I am resting today watching some Netflix to give my body a wee rest. it is 32 degrees . I will go out for a little shopping later in the day and maybe even go for sauna steam ,jacuzzi

,

Things I will miss at Champs Elysees

I went to the wrong school for my swim yesterday; I found the right school this morning ; right opposite Donghu MRT.

I went this morning ; I had to buy a hat and goggles as you need them in order to swim in this pool.

I realised I have not been swimming as far as I remember since I was in Tuscany. I sometimes go to my sisters health club in Cameron House Balloch when I visit her. That one is very up market.

This school pool is very good though. A big pool; a steam and sauna and a  jacuzzi

I got in at 12.20 and was told I could not go into the pool till 12.30 then I could use everything.

I really enjoyed my time there; 20 minutes swimming 5 minutes in jacuzzi.

When I came out I had a delicious ice green tea and bought some pineapple cake a very Taiwanese cake.

My hairdresser at "William" spoke good English ; she had been on a working holiday in Australia.

Gorgeous wash massage blow dry; 250 TWD ( £6)

I had a call with Philip; so many good things happening for him. A delicious zoom with Penny always a joy !

My evening walk was cancelled due to torrential rain which was relentless. There is a typhoon warning for tomorrow.

Tomorrow Ka La Van refinery!

Ka La Van trip was cancelled due to severe weather conditions; I am very happy as we were originally going to see Superman today . I took Philip to see the Superman films when he was a child and Christopher Reeve was superman .After that I bought him all the videos.

It will be full circle moment , he is taking me today.

I met P&T at the Miramar Ferris Wheel shopping area.

I thought we were going to the cinema complex on the sixth floor. When they arrived it turned out they had tickets to a more exclusive cinema in the same area.  First we had a look round the mall; then found a place for food. Due to my sciatica meds I ended up with a sore tummy. it seems there was a price to pay for the magical pain relief.

I was careful what I ate just a little rice and veggie korma. I have never had korma before but I remember John saying it was quite gentle. After food and catch up we went to the phone place because my phone was acting up. it had no sound and when I tapped on the icons it did not work and the camera  was working on and off. I really thought I would have to have a new phone as I cannot be here without a way to contact P&T at least and I would hate not to take pictures on my last  weeks. I gave my phone to a very knowledgeable young woman; she asked a lot of questions in good English. In the end after quite a carful examination; she turned it off and on again and it all came to life. If I understood correctly when the phone updates itself, this can happen. For this miracle , no charge. Philip went to another counter and got a new screen protector . We had to wait for 15 minutes, so we went for a wander and found a fantastic Deli. I felt like I was in Spain. Lots of cheese and meats wines and beautiful kitchen equipment. The most exciting thing for me was they has Hummus. I have missed that as I practically live on it at home. Philip bought it for me.

We then made our way to the cinema; it really was quite glamorous. We entered a beautiful lobby with a glittering bar.

P&T ordered food and cokes ( we had just eaten but they had room for chicken wings )  I had Perrier.( I remembered randomly that the first thing I ever said in France in a cafe was

"un perrier avec des glaçons s'il vous plaît" I was well pleased with myself as I was understood.)

We were shown to the theatre , we were in the back row on red velvet recliners. There were no adverts the film simply started on time. After about ten minutes the food and drinks arrived.

I really enjoyed the film it was really funny like a crazy cartoon. I doubt I would have gone to see it on my own through choice. But I am glad I did especially seeing it with Philip. Although it is a wee bit silly, in the end I liked the message.

We had planned to go home after that ,it was about 7.OO . Philip got a message from his lunch bunch friends ,there were at Maja having beers.

So off we went to see them all and I am glad I did .It gave me a chance to see all those lovely  people again and say goodbye. I especially wanted to see Kent who was just back from visiting his family in South Africa, he has recently lost his mother and I wanted to hear how it was for him. I spent most of the time with him but did got a little time with each of them. I left about 10.00 after lots of hugs, goodbyes and hope to see you again.

Saturday July 26, Happy Birthday Andrew X

26th July 1970

26th July 2025

On Saturday morning my tummy was still a bit unsettled.I went out to "Cosmed "hoping to get some Gaviscon. I checked online and it said it was available over the counter here.

It was not available at "Cosmed" or "Lawsons" so I bought a Taiwanese version. It turned out to be helpful. ( in Taiwan like Spain you can only by meds in a chemist. Unlike UK where you can buy every day meds almost anywhere)  It was about 10.00 AM when I went out and came back melting hot it was about 32 early in the day. I decided right away I would get an Uber to the theatre as the walk to the station would be too much in the heat.

Today was the day I had been looking forward to since the first two weeks I was here. I  had noticed Life of Pi was on at the Taipei National Theatre.I asked P&T if they would like to join in ,they did ,and Trs got the tickets for us.

I have been in the cafe in the theatre but never seen the auditorium. It is a beautiful building from the outside and hoped it would be inside too. It sits next to Chiang Kai -Shek Memorial Hall they are quite a sight to see.

I met P&T at the theatre. I felt excited to be there. " the day and finally came" It is a very beautiful theatre I was enchanted buy the venue and then the play.

The play was wonderful, Pi in this performance was played by a young woman; other performance Pi is played by a young man.She was just wonderful .She was on stage the whole time .it was a very energetic roll at some times then very reflective at other times. she made the switch effortlessly.

The scenes at the zoo in India were colourful and festive and just lovely to watch.  The scenes of the boat with the stormy seas and lashing rain were awesome; I believed they were in the sea.

The puppeteers were fabulous. I was pretty sure there was a Tiger on the stage. 100 percent fabulous. I hope it comes to the UK I will go again. I make sure A&L come too.

I of course wept ;from a psychological perspective it was spot on, the resilience of the human spirit and mind moved me to tears. Bravo Yann Martel.

We all talked about the play when we had tea in the theatre book shop.We all enjoyed it ,I think it is fair to say I enjoyed the play and the theatre the most.

Taipei National Theatre

Off for a cup of tea and a scone at  theatre cafe

An essential part of many experiences here , the picture, the three of us with the boat and paddle.

After that we all got on the MRT, blue line to meet Ste and Kelsey at  a vegetarian restaurant close to the Oxford Street of Taipei. The food is all veggie ,yet on the menu it says Chicken Pork etc. it is quite convincing.

It is very clever and beautifully presented as most of the food here is.

It was my last night with Ste and Kelsey. They have been a huge part of my three months here and of course Ste was my motor bike companion and great driver.

In my mind the Beatles song Paperback Writer  is now Motorbike Rider

They brought me a lovely framed picture of Ste and I on the bike and a lovely note.

Our last evening together with Ste and Kelsey

Something I have not mentioned in fear of shocking you all. After 76 years being disgusted by the C word. I used it the day I went on the bike. ( not in anger but just to see if I could say the word)

For some reason over dinner we talked about swearing and how useful it can be .And  to me at least ,how awful it can be. I also follow Tom Wilson on  Instagram ( he introduces a word every day  including swear words) he is very "posh" and really makes me laugh.I think he helped me loosen up about that word.

After a few glasses and many attempts I managed to get it out; and surprise  surprise the world did not come to an end.

Something happened the other day when the first thing that came to mind when I was telling Philip was C word.We had a good laugh.

I am loosening up again just when I thought I was very loose and accepting; I crash through another barrier.

Ste's note mentioned it in a great good humoured way.

I thought when I came here I might get my hair dyed . I like to do something I have never done while I am away. But I think going for a motor bike ride in torrential rain and using the C word fulfilled that brief.

We had a lovely family call with Andrew and Lucy and took the opportunity so sing Happy Birthday to Andrew  ( from the restaurant ) It was a lovely way to end a very memorable day.

Modern day family picture ; you can just see Andrew and Lucy on the bottom left :)

Sunday 27th July the day Lucy runs a Marathon. I am thinking about her now but I hope she is asleep as it is 2.44 AM over there.  I am looking forward to hearing the news that she has done it , is ok and pleased with herself. As she should be her training has been really tough.

Our girl did it; bravo Lucy ;I am SO proud.

I have to admit to feeling quite sick towards the end of Lucy's marathon; it seemed it would never end. I cannot describe the relief I felt when the news came though.iI turned out she actually ran 27 miles due to a navigational error. JMJ.  That was quite a weekend.

I am in my last few days here in Champs . On Wednesday morning the removal men come to take the last few things of P&T to the mountain house . In the evening the keys go back to the landlord.

I will be back at my/their beloved Mountain House for one night; then we have our last holiday within the holiday to the south,;then my last two nights at The Mountain House . On August 6th I am

off to the airport and back to Liverpool.

Today I ordered an online shopping for when I am back in Ullet Road ,something I have not done for three months. I asked Andrew to put some things in the flat for my arrival back home. I asked the cleaner to freshen up the flat before I get home and the gardener to do a bit of weeding. All  things which will make my return a little easier. I am gradually looking past my leaving date and imaging a life back in Liverpool.

I have noticed for the last few days some people with very professional cameras around this tree.

I realised it must be a rare bird.

I was on my evening walk last night when everyone had gone . I wanted to take a picture of where this bird was for Teresa's dad who is a birder and a great photographer of birds too.

I was so lucky; in the hole in the tree the bird had her babies; I saw her wee head poking out; I went in quite close and she just looked at me ( I think) I was able t  take a video. It was quite a magical moment.

I don't know how to put a video here but if I learn I will post it and the waterfall at Keelung too.

P&T and I had a video call last night; I went round the house with the camera on and they told me what was going to the Mountain house and what was to stay. I will just point to the stuff for the van men.

Today is my last full day at City Apartment. I have packed what I can till tomorrow morning.

I can now go out and enjoy my last full day here.

My last Dan Bing

National Palace Museum

I know there are a lot of pictures here; it just blows my mind that this art was made in 12th 13 14th century ; The colours and just stunning.

This is what I came here to see the Jade Cabbage.

I just wept I have never seen anything so exquisite in my almost 77 years.

https://theme.npm.edu.tw/exh106/npm_anime/cabbage/en/index.html

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Meat-Shaped_Stone
I hoped to see this piece but it is on loan to another gallery.

Wine drinking vessels.

Views from the terrace of the palace.

I cannot say how glad I am to have made it to this Palace Museum It was quite stunning to see the beautiful treasures from centuries  ago so beautifully  looked after with great pride.

Saw Woo Woo the hairdresser  again she is a very lovely young woman; I thought she was about 20.It turns out she is 32 and married

I spent my last evening at the city apartment listening to music and packing up the stuff to go to Mountain House. I felt a bit sad and at the same time looking forward to the next week.

Last day got up at 6.00 continues the packing and cleaning . The went for my last walk around the now familiar neighbourhood.

It is a beautiful sunny day with a nice breeze.

After the removal men left I went over to seven eleven  for my last coffee from that store.I then walked around the apartment sipping coffee and saying goodbye to each room.

I then got an Uber to the Mountain House .It was a lovely  feeling to be coming back and seeing P&T . When I arrived the two removal men were here. ahead of me,

Philip has put the plants we bought last weekend at the flower market; it look fantastic.

Tomorrow , Taipei Main to get the Xpress train to Zuoying.

The Mountain House felt very different on my return. This time there were three cats and P&T up to their eyes in boxes. This was an important  moment for them finally all their stuff was where it should be and Trs parents things were with them too.
I got unpacked.  I was reunited with things that I had left here. I soon realised that my small purple case was going to have to be replaced with a bigger case. I thought I would have more space going home as on my way here I had lots of gifts for Philips 50th birthday and some gifts for Trs. of course after three months here I have acquired  a good few souvenirs .
I actually thought I would only need the big black case going home.

It took a while to sort through everything and in the mean time P&T went back to City Apartment to wind up things with the landlord.

On my first night back here  we had cold Noodles with Japanese sauce from Seven Eleven; something I have enjoyed quite often while I have been in Taiwan.

On July 31st we got an Uber to Taipei Main where we boarded the Xpress train to Tainan.

I am very impressed with the public transport in Taiwan. I have mentioned that here before.

We had very comfortable reclining seats with lots of legroom ( important for Philip ,he is very tall) air conditioned coach; clean loos and no one standing.

The station and Tainan was as expected spacious clean plenty staff and as always the seven eleven.

We got a yellow taxi to our hotel which was in a tiny narrow street as always filled with scooters and motor bikes. We had to use the key safe to get in to leave our luggage we were too early to check in.

WE then set off to Tainan's well known street food area which had an overwhelming choice of food.
Trs had told me that a local dish here is omelettes with oysters; so we had one sitting at the rough and ready stall in blazing heat by the frying pan and watched the food being made. The cost was 100 dollars ( about £2) I thought to myself if the was Paris this food would cost a fortune. We then went to another stall and had a wrap  type of thing filled with salad. I liked it but it was too much I could not finish it.
We got delicious cold drinks ,mine was melon juice very cold lots of ice.
                                                            P&T enjoying street food

We continued to wander in the heat enjoying the sights and sounds of this area. Philp was not keen on this food and we eventually found a wee cafe selling chicken wings which Philip enjoys. We all enjoyed the air conditioned place while Philip enjoyed various chicken delights and some tea eggs.

There was much to see in Tainan ;as we were only there for 24 hours Trs gave me a choice of places of interest and said to choose two for that day. I chose the oldest house and the oldest Temple in Tainan which used to be the Capital if Taipei.

This old house was being restored and most of it was was covered up ; but I had a feel for it. I was surprised to see these red bricks in what had been a walled garden.
The place was dedicated to education as is the Confuscious Temple.
There were a few students  lighting incense sticks and praying for good results in their exams.

I shook the red wooden ( orange segment shaped ) objects and threw them down,;depending on how they land you know your answer. I got a yes which meant I could take the gift of a pen.

They were really for the students but I decided I am a student of life. I got a yes to my question so I was entitled to the pen :)

As we were heading to the old temple we passed a lovely old building and I wondered what it was; We crossed over. it was an old department store and the first one in Tainan to have an elevator.

To me this store is like Fortnum & Mason in London.  Expensive. The ground floor was all food and drinks lost of beautiful tins of tea, of course, local cakes ,biscuits and sweets.

Upstairs a whole array of beautiful glassware , tea towels and all sorts of beautiful and expensive  gifts.

I bought some candy and a gift for Trs mum.

On our way to the temple  we saw a Heron with a fish in its mouth in the middle of a pond; it was fascinating and awful watching the herons process of catching killing and swallowing the fish,

I loved this old temple

https://www.tn-confucius.org.tw/

I really like what I read about Confucius's philosophy .If I was here much longer I might well become a Buddhist.

After enjoying the temple and seeing some old Bells among other things. We went to the gift shop ( of course) I bought a few postcards had a picture taken the the Confucius Statue and had small coin turned into an oval shaped picture of the man himself.

As we were heading to for a coffee we came across a man making little sweet cakes on the sidewalk. he was offering to show us how to do it; I volunteered and it was a very interesting experience ; the smells were like the fun fare when your were a child.
Made with the help of the  delightful street vendor

We then found a lovely cafe which sold chocolate and coco of all kinds and had some really delicious chocolate ice cream.

We went back to he we hotel to check in to our rooms before heading out for dinner.

In case you are not sure.
 e.

We were invited to take our shoes off the the foyer given slippers to wear our shoes were put in to a shoe holder.

We then went out to a crazy place for dinner ( chow) it was very basic very noisy and most people were drinking Taiwan beer. The tables already has bottle openers on them assuming you would be drinking the beer. The food was perfectly ok but it was a bit overwhelming for me.P&T said it is an experience all of their friends give there families and friends when they  come over, something you have to do but only once.
t
rechao restaurant

Local cat hoping for scraps.

After that " experience " we hoped to go to a cocktail bar Moonrock but it was  full up and we had not booked; we were directed to Swallow another bar close by.it was upmarket and cool very welcome after "rechao " I had a Laphroig with a giant ice cube. it was just gorgeous; I rarely have a dram these days; I really enjoyed this one though.

I liked my little room in the wee hotel/hostel. I had a double bed all to myself and a very nice en suite.

AS I was drifting off to sleep the heavens opened and it poured torrential rain ,the sound of the rain took me back to Inveraray in my dad's caravan; it was lovely to be cosy inside while the fierce Scottish rain bounced off the caravan roof.

The rain hardly stopped . The following morning  we were heading out for breakfast , and to buy me a suitcase and shoes for Philip we got well and truly soaked.
I got my suitcase though; Philip got cheap shoes more suitable for the wet and we had a delicious breakfast.

Next back to MRT for our trip to Kaohsiung

I have been looking forward to this trip as Philip lived here for about a year and told me a lot about it. He is still very enthusiastic about the city.
We checked in to a really nice inexpensive hotel near Pier 2 and had a wee rest; Trs had a bad cough and went to the doctors and I happily pottered in my room and listened to Mc Levey on Audible.
This is the most beautiful MRT in Taipei
The Dome of Light

We all loved this Taiwan artist we saw his work in a cafe at Pier2

We went for a lovely walk around Pier 2 .The river LOVE runs through Kaohsiung I was very impressed with the area it has restaurants bars and lots of creative outlets selling everything from tack to very very expensive jewellery and pottery. It was delightful for me listening to Philip sharing his memories of living here and showing me the places he lived and worked.
There was a storm brewing; it was still so hot.
I was delighted to see this installation as I had seen in on Light Night in Liverpool

Swing Bridge

The purple lit up building in the distance is The Music Centre

WE camE across these lovely old bells . The ring 72 songs and one is played every hour.

We went to a place called Beer Talk ; it was very like some pub in UK. IT only sold beer; they had fish and chips ( delicious) we sat at the bar in front of six televisions each showing a different sport.

We then wandered a bit more around the Pier while heading for a bar TRS had found during her research.

It was a lovely cool quiet bar which was a relief for me after the noise of Beer Talk.

Philip was delighted to spot a wine called OBI Wine ; as a Star Wars fan he had to buy it it made his night. I was delighted to find Vishy Catalan  my favourite sparkling water when I am in Spain. We had an interesting conversation with the young bar man who owned the business.
I think he will do well he has created a lovely space.
When Philip had his last drink the young man said " I have to say this" as he poured himself a glass or red wine" May the Force be with You"

On our was to see the islands and maybe some turtles.
Another coach with ornate curtains

We met the coach at 8.00 AM and were away till 7.PM

The coach took us to meet the boat. it is the first coach tour I have been on when all the announcements were in Chinese; Luck for me Trs was there to translate.

We had the most exhilarating trip over the the island. The sea was choppy and the boat was riding the waves;  I loved it but a good few people felt a bit queasy.

We stopped for a loo break and coffee then on to the next boat a glass bottom boat. Unfortunately the conditions were not right for the turtles it was very murky. We were invited to go up on deck; Again for me it was wonderful ; for many it was too choppy and some were quite ill. Thankfully none of us.
The guides said people should not be shy that it was ok the throw up over board.

By then the skies were blue and we could see the waves crashing up against the rocks.

It was a beautiful trip for me. The sky was blue the rocks turned out to be above ground corals . I have only seen corals in Australia and they were in the sea. After the trip we were all taken for lunch which was all part of the tour. Most people had the seafood. Philip and I had the veggie option; We were put at a different table; we thought maybe the naughty table

We had an amazing walk around the island saw some awesome nature I have put some pictures above. I can't let you feel  the heat and smell the aromas ; it was amazing. We then went into the " Ghost  Cave"where sadly many years some people refused to leave the island and were burned to death in this cave. it was long and narrow and dank; it was worth the walk  through thought as it came out with a beautiful view of the Ocean.

After that were were taken to a wee cafe to make some braided biscuits; then of course encouraged to buy some before we left; Trs bought nine packets because she got the tenth one free. The real reason is we wanted to support the islanders enterprise.

Lastly before we got the boat back ; we went to another cafe and given shaved ice milk with mulberries' A local dish. It was delicious. Trs then bought Mulberry Jam.

The boat trip back was much calmer and we all dozed.Lastly back on the bus which took us back to the MRT station Dome of Light

On our last night we wandered the lovely wee streets filled with interest.

Believe it or not this the the entrance to an MRT

Central Park

We had dinner at a Hotel  Restaurant  Teressa  knew. that night at a window seat and views over the twinkling city( or at least that area)

I had seafood risotto ; I am not sure if I have mentioned it here; Since we have been here ; all the restaurants we have visited ,although they take our order separately. When it comes everything is put in the middle of the table and shared. I found it a bit odd at first but know I think it is a nice idea.

On our last morning we went to pier 5 for brunch is a very cool restaurant.
We planned to go back to a jewellery shop where I had seen the " treat " gift for myself. Earrings and a pendant made by a local craft person. I thought they were going to cost 3,600 dollars ( about £90) and decided yes I would buy them ' I was a bit disappointed to discover they were in fact around 6000 dollars.( £140) after a bit if converting to sterling I decide to go for it. It felt very nice to give myself this gift.

We then went to hear the bells we had seen on our fist night; they were lovely ,a peaceful moment.

Then a delightful surprise ; we saw the swing opened and enjoyed sitting by the Love watching it close again.

We then headed to the Station to get the train back to Taipei. We stayed up late and watched a wonderful film " into the wild" I was very moved by that film and although P&T have seen it before they were too, We burned the midnight oil chatted and went to bed quite late.

On Monday we had a late start and late afternoon we went to the other side of Taipei for Trs to look at a wee kitten that she was considering adopting.

it was a journey to a new place for me to the newish Circle Line.( yellow)

We walked to a little narrow street where the apartments are very old. We saw a gorgeous jet black mother cat and her three kittens, one jet black the others black and white. The woman and her daughter welcomed us in and gave us slippers . Philip and I waited downstairs while Trs went to see the cats. P&I were then invited to go to see them too.  They were all gorgeous to me.If I had to choose I would have taken the mother and the wee black kitten who was full of life and fun. Trs knew which one she wanted before we got there ; but she felt they did not connect and it was very very shy. The woman also had three big buckets downstairs each with a wee turtle in it. I think it is cruel and sad; but it is very common over here.

We then went back on the MRT to the river where there are is a row of street food places ; sadly they were not opened on a Monday. We went to a nice ordinary restaurant where I had Greek Salad .

We then went to Carrafour for some shopping for P&T

You will see in the pictures we found a Churchills Phone box; it was full of food from Churchills a place I mentioned a while back where you can get giant full english breakfasts and the place is decorated with Union Jacks and pictures of Winston Churchill.

We came back and Philip had left the fairy lights on in the balcony it looked beautiful and he played Sweet Caroline out there for a little while. Very touching.we then talked and talked drank wine and the next thing we know it was 3..00 AM. It was however a memorable penultimate evening.

Today I slept very late ; I wakened to Philip playing his Ukulele getting ready for his lesson today at 4.00 PM. It was just lovely to hear him practicing; Silent Night Auld Lang Syng and Amazing Grace.

I have spent most of the day packing and blogging and drinking tea. Trs went to have her hair and nails done; Philip left now to go for his lesson them will meet Trs and go to Cosco; We were going to go to  Tamsui this evening to watch the sun go down and and walk by the sea; but it is torrential rain so we are going to say home and watch a move with some food; sounds perfect to me.

Philip and I on his /my beloved Balcony at the beautiful Mountain House.

Philip with his Staghorns.

My taxi is coming tomorrow evening at 6.15 my flight is around 9.00

I am so very grateful to Philip and Teresa
To Teresa's parents
To P&Ts many friends.

They have given me an experience of a life time. I have so many memories to cherish.

I would also like to thank all the amazing people I have met along the way in cafes, shops on MRT in the  street. I have felt welcomed every where I have been in this three months.

I have fallen more deeply for Taiwan.

How lucky I am to have something that makes saying goodbye so hard.  A.A. Milne

The Kindness of strangers- 2nd two weeks

Leaving Liverpool Arriving in Taipei via Istanbul
